El Futuro is currently hiring a full-time Bilingual Substance Use Counselor. This position will join our mission at a critical time of growth, as we continue to develop our substance use treatment program. In this role, the counselor will provide direct, outpatient substance use treatment to individuals (adolescents and adults) in order to facilitate their recovery. This will include conducting comprehensive substance use assessments, assigning diagnoses, developing treatment plans, and delivering high quality, evidence-based individual and group treatment to clients. Preference will be given to clinicians who are dually licensed and have training in treating both mental health and substance use symptoms. The counselor will also work with the substance use treatment team to monitor and facilitate El Futuro’s DWI program, including providing DWI assessments as well as ongoing group and individual treatment. The counselor will also conduct ADETS treatment.

This position will be office-based, covering both our Durham and Siler City clinics, including evenings.

The annual salary for this position starts at $54,000.00. El Futuro provides employer paid medical, dental, vision, life, short-term disability, and long-term disability; 403B matching; generous PTO and paid holidays; stipend and paid time off for professional development.

General Responsibilities of El Futuro Staff:

Participate in meetings and organizational related activities as directed by the supervisor, which may include All Staff Meeting, Individual Supervision, participation on a committee, or other activities.
Play an active role in the continued development of El Futuro’s work via participation in fundraising and other agency-wide activities.
Engage in learning opportunities through “La Mesita”, El Futuro’s training platform and network of bilingual providers in North Carolina, or through other appropriate career development opportunities.
Be a team player who is ready to support other duties as assigned, in consultation with your supervisor and priority tasks.

Qualifications:

Required: Fluency in spoken Spanish. Must also be able to read and communicate with clients in written Spanish. In addition, must be able to document clinical encounters in English.
Required: Valid license to treat substance use disorders in the state of North Carolina required (LCAS preferred, CADC may also apply).
Prefer applicants with dual-diagnosis training and dual licensure (with valid North Carolina Mental Health License, such as LCSW, LPC, LCAS, LMFT, LPA or Ph.D. in psychology).
Minimum 2 years of work experience as substance use counselor.
Minimum 2 years of experience providing DWI assessment, DWI Group Treatment, and ADETS.
Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with a diverse array of people
