Position Description:
Meals4Families is a communication tool that connects families experiencing food
insecurity with local free meals for children. Our web app, meals4families.org, is an
accessible, equitable front-door to all of the information that a family needs to connect
with local meal programs. Learn more about our program at meals4families.community.

**All required work will be conducted virtually. Applicants should have access to
a computer and internet connection. Applicants from all geographic areas are
welcome (see the Qualifications section below).**

Meals4Families, in partnership with Hunger Free America, is seeking Summer
Associate members to do the following:
● Conduct interviews and outreach with families that participate in the Summer
Food Service Program.
● Assist with on-boarding schools and community organizations as we expand our
network of meal providers across North Carolina and California.
● Assist with user research and testing of the meals4families.org website.
● Gather and summarize data from current summer meal programs.
● Assist with impact and assessment research.

Time Commitment:
This is a short-term, 10-week, full-time position beginning June 7, 2021 and ending
August 16, 2021. You are expected to be available for the needs of your community and
project at all times, including days, nights and weekends. AmeriCorps VISTA service
requires a full immersion in the project and community; therefore, full-time employment
with other entities is strictly prohibited. Summer Associates may be able to have a
part-time job outside of VISTA service, however, they will discuss this with their
supervisor prior to starting their position. Also, AmeriCorps VISTA and Summer
Associates must adhere to some restrictions on political and religious activities. For

Housing:
You are responsible for finding your own housing. No housing allowance will be
provided.
Program Benefits:
● $513.94 living allowance, paid biweekly

Qualifications:
In order to qualify for the position, you must be 18 years or older (no upper age limit).
Members must also hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US
citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status), and persons
legally residing within a state. Examples of persons legally residing within a state may
include those holding the following classifications: refugee, asylee, temporary protected
status throughout VISTA service, and holding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
(DACA) status.
