The City of Fayetteville Police Department is currently recruiting for a Mental Health Community Liaison. This position is responsible for providing social service assistance through crisis intervention, consultation and follow-up counseling to citizens, in conjunction with law enforcement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide community crisis-intervention, diagnostic evaluation, emergency response and follow-up on incidents; assist officers in the field as needed.
Act as a liaison between the Police Department and community, city and state social service agencies.
Provide information and referrals to medical facilities, social service agencies, and other appropriate services to callers and walk-ins on issues.
Serve as a victim advocate for victims of crime occurring in the City of Fayetteville, which may include testifying in criminal or juvenile court on behalf of victims or their families.
Work closely with and coordinate the delivery of social services with Police and other relevant departments.
Coordinate counseling service cases with other service agencies when needed including, but not limited to: Department of Social Services, juvenile court, senior centers, Veteran’s Affairs, Cumberland County Schools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:
Three years of experience in case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling and intervention related human services or a related field. Experience working a in a law enforcement agency preferred.

Training:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social work or counseling. A Master’s degree is preferred.

LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:

Required:
Possession of an appropriate driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability; certified Social Worker in the State of North Carolina or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

Preferred:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
