ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN II
Position # 610114 Salary Range: $34,955 – $55,247
Primary Purpose of Position: The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the motor fleet of 37 vehicles. This includes maintaining the vehicles by scheduling routine maintenance including but not limited to, oil changes, tire rotations and car washes. Agency employees report maintenance issues with the vehicles to this position and then they follow up with the garage. This position is also responsible for the agency mail distribution. The mail is picked up by this position at 10:00 am each morning, opened, date stamped and distributed to the mailboxes located in the mailroom on the A-wing. Mail is taken down to the County mailroom at 2:00 pm daily as well. This position serves as back up for supply orders in the absence of the Accounting Technician II that is also housed in this office.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: General knowledge of the application of established bookkeeping and accounting principles and techniques to standard accounting transactions. General knowledge of established governmental and departmental budgeting and bookkeeping practices and procedures. General knowledge of office methods and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and review the work of subordinate clerical personnel. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public and other government employees. Ability to present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies to the maintenance of financial records.
Minimum Education and Experience: Graduation from a high school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and three years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Completion of a one or two year business course in an accredited community college or business school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting may be substituted for two and three years of the required experience respectively.) Bilinguals are encouraged to apply. Valid North Carolina driver license required. DD 214 is required from applicants claiming a military preference.
