There are several gift options for donors who want to contribute to our School through a legacy gift. We encourage you to consult with your attorney and your financial advisor in planning a legacy gift. Our development team will assist you in ensuring that your legacy gift meets your charitable objectives.
Bequests
A bequest is a gift that is written into a will or a trust and is awarded after the donor’s death. It can provide a charitable deduction to estate taxes for the donor’s heirs.
There are different types of bequests:
- A specific bequest leaves a specific dollar amount or an object of value (real estate, for example).
- A percentage bequest leaves a specific percentage of the overall estate value.
- A residual bequest leaves the value of an estate after other bequests in a will are fulfilled.
