At UNC-Chapel Hill, we believe that all students should have access to the opportunities they deserve, especially access to a college education. For outstanding students, scholarships often open the door and pave the way for students to succeed.
UNC School of Social Work alumnus Noel Bost (MSW ’96) embraced this ideal when he helped to establish the Iris Carlton-LaNey Scholarship, which honors the Berg-Beach Distinguished Professor and nationally renowned scholar. The scholarship benefits underrepresented MSW students who have an interest in working in the field of social justice and racial equity.
Bost, who owns and operates a mental health clinic in Greensboro, N.C., felt called to give back to the community of social work and to recognize Carlton-LaNey’s leadership on addressing racial equity and other diverse societal issues.
Your help in supporting scholarships (you can contribute to this scholarship or to another scholarship of your choice) ensures that many more of our students can graduate ready to make a difference, with less debt and more confidence.
