Türkiye-Syria Earthquake: A Perfect Storm for Syria’s Humanitarian Crisis

March 28, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

UNC School of Social Work will host Djaouida Siaci, an attorney specializing in cross-border disputes and international criminal investigations, on Tuesday, March 28 at noon, for a lecture about the Syrian humanitarian crisis.

Siaci, who focuses her legal work on the Middle East and Africa, will also discuss how the recent devastating earthquake in southern Turkey and northwestern Syria has exacerbated challenges for Syrian residents, many of whom have already been displaced from their homes due to an ongoing civil war.

Her lecture — “Turkiye-Syria Earthquake: A Perfect Storm for Syria’s Humanitarian Crisis. A Renewed Call to Action for Forcibly Displaced People” — will be hosted in the auditorium of the School’s Tate-Turner-Kuralt Building, on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The lecture will also be streamed live online.

Registration is required to attend.
