Introduction to Expressive Arts Therapy: A Didactic and Experiential Workshop
November 12 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
$35.00This workshop offers an introduction to expressive arts therapy, exploring its history, theory, case examples, and experiential activities. While this workshop does not train participants to become expressive arts therapists, the presenters will demonstrate how various art forms—such as visual arts, music, drama, and dance—can be integrated into therapeutic practices to enhance healing. As body-based practices, expressive arts therapies are particularly beneficial for those who have experienced or are currently experiencing trauma, as they address where trauma is often stored: in the body. The primary goal of this workshop is to allow participants to personally experience the transformative power of expressive arts while reflecting on ways to engage clients in similar practices. Due to the experiential nature of the workshop, participants are encouraged to practice self-care and attend to their needs if strong emotions arise. The presenters are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all.
