Marlowe joined the School of Social Work staff as the project coordinator and full time clinical social worker for UNC Refugee Wellness in 2018. On a typical day, Marlowe meets with people recently resettled through the U.S. Refugee Resettlement program in Wake, Orange, and Durham counties, sharing tea and conversation to de-stigmatize mental health topics and engage community members in individual, family, or group therapy. Marlowe enjoys having a job that encompasses collaborating with a large network of community partners, direct work with resilient families, as well as supporting MSW students’ growth in their field placement through Refugee Wellness.
