Magdelene “Mags” Ramon (they/them) joined the School of Social Work in 2021 as a project manager, working with Dr. William J. Hall on research centered around LGBTQIA+ youth and adults. Their main research project, Queer Experiences of Stress, Strength, and Transformation, explores the identity development and mental health of LGBTQIA+ youth. Other studies include affirmative parenting of LGBTQIA+ children and suicide postvention. Mags’ interests include intersectional and anti-oppressive approaches to sexuality and consent education, as well as intimate partner violence prevention and intervention, that center those who are multiply marginalized, with an emphasis on those who are LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, disabled, and/or people of color. Mags is a past recipient of the Above and Beyond Award for their contributions to the research studies they manage.
