Scoville awarded national fellowship

Christopher Scoville has been awarded the Interprofessional Fellowship in Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery Oriented Services, a program created by the US Department of Veterans Affairs with four sites nationally. Beginning in fall 2019, Scoville will work with the VA Hospital in Durham, N.C.

The one-year fellowship combines individualized, mentored clinical and research training that emphasizes a psychosocial rehabilitation approach to services in mental health care. Fellows work with veterans who have been diagnosed with conditions including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and substance use disorders. Fellows also have the opportunity to complete national training programs in evidence-based interventions, in addition to significant training in group and individual service delivery.

Scoville graduated from UNC School of Social Work in May 2019 with a Master of Social Work degree and has completed an internship with the UNC Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. Before he began graduate studies in Chapel Hill, he served as associate policy director of the NC Institute of Minority Economic Development and in several other nonprofit roles.

Previously, Scoville earned a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in public policy from Duke University, where he was a Robertson Scholar and a Point Foundation Scholar. He completed a MBA degree at Drexel University, where he received the LeBow Alumni Fellowship. Scoville also spent several years overseas, attending high school in Norway and working in both South Africa and Malaysia.
