Doernberg chosen for public health internship in Montana

MSW student Alison Doernberg was selected for a nationally-competitive internship through the U.S. Maternal and Child Health Bureau’s Graduate Student Internship Program.

This program offers graduate students in public health the opportunity to enhance their skills in data analysis, epidemiology, and program evaluation by working with state and local health agencies on data-related projects designed to enhance maternal and child health.

Doernberg will be working in Missoula, Mont. with the Missoula City-County Health Department to assess the effectiveness of breastfeeding promotion practices in medical clinics.

“This is a big deal,” said Professor Kathleen Rounds. “Usually these internships go to students who are finishing their first year in public health. This is a first for a dual-degree student who is finishing the first year. [Alison’s] materials were outstanding!”
