Summer Institute addresses equity and implementation science

The School of Social Work’s Jordan Institute for Families co-hosted the second annual Summer Institute on Implementation Science with the National Implementation Research Network (NIRN) and the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute June 10-12.

This year’s institute focused on issues related to equity and inclusion and the role of implementation science in supporting equitable outcomes for people and communities. The workshops included practical tools and resources that public agency and non-profit professionals can use to support change efforts to advance equity and social justice.

The summer institute included plenary presentations that focused on, among other topics, reframing implementation science to address healthcare inequities, and advancing equity through policy implementation.
Attendees also participated in afternoon breakout discussions that addressed issues and challenges around using data to promote equitable implementation and decision-making, culturally responsive practices, and building trust to lead implementation.
