Students graduate from SUAS program; Livermore honored with Pioneer Award

The UNC School of Social Work honored students graduating from the Substance Use & Addictions Specialist Program (SUAS) with a luncheon and awards ceremony on May 6 at the Carolina Inn. Students enrolled in the SUAS program completed their master’s program concentration requirements as well as 180 hours of substance abuse specific education and a field placement focusing on addictions.

The MSW Class of 2019 program graduates are: Chloe Bethany, Antwon Fogle, Krystal Gilchrest (Keesee), Melissa Hornbeck, Bridget McEnaney, Renee Minx, Rebecca Pratt, Abigail Sepanski, Tina Spach, Guillermo Tremols and Melissa Walker.

During the ceremony, the School also presented the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) Pioneer Award to Jean Livermore, who retired last year as the School’s associate director of field education. The annual award honors an individual for their commitment and advocacy for substance use disorder treatment and education programs in North Carolina.
