Assistant professor Rachel Woodson Goode was selected to receive the Society of Behavioral Medicine’s (SBM’s) 2018 Outstanding Dissertation Award. Goode’s dissertation was titled, “The Feasibility of a Binge Eating Intervention in African American Women who are Overweight or Obese.” The award will be presented to Goode in April at the SBM’s 2018 Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, La.

Professor Kim Strom-Gottfried presented on “The Ethics of Supervision” to a standing room only audience at the Georgia Association of Social Workers in Tbilisi, Georgia, in February. The visit was part of Strom-Gottfried’s work for a USAid Human and Institutional Capacity contract to plan a system of regulation for the social workers in that country.

Professor Rebecca Macy was invited to serve as an advisor to the Juvenile and Family Law Research Center at Jinan University-Zhuhai, in the Guangdon Province of southeastern China. She has worked with Hongwei Zhang, one of China’s leading researchers on family and domestic violence and juvenile crime, and presented two lectures in China (where this photo was taken) earlier this year.
