The UNC Satir Program is excited to announce a new grant that will fund scholarships for students, recent MSW graduates, and other individuals who need financial assistance to attend its annual Satir Growth Model Summer Intensive Training in July. A limited number of scholarships are also available through this grant for UNC Social Work students who want to take the Satir-based Professional Use of Self course with Tricia McGovern during the second summer semester.
The program, now in its fourth year at the School, offers training in the groundbreaking communications model developed by family therapy pioneer Virginia Satir. The program provides instruction and leadership from internationally-known Satir expert Jean McLendon who apprenticed and worked directly with Virginia Satir for 20 years. The courses and training programs offered through the program have received rave reviews from students and participants, many of whom describe their experience as “life-changing” and “uniquely applicable to any setting that involves human interaction.”
