Registration open for the 4th Annual UNC Satir Summer Intensive Training

UNC Satir is now accepting registrations for its fourth annual Summer Intensive Training. The six-day training will be held at Extraordinary Ventures in Chapel Hill from July 16 to July 21, 2018. Forty hours of continuing education credit will be offered through the UNC School of Social Work.

Based on the groundbreaking work of family therapy pioneer Virginia Satir, the Satir model offers a framework for creating positive outcomes through better communication skills in a wide variety of settings, from family therapy and social services providers to corporate business managers and educators. Because of the model’s emphasis on inner reflection and clarity about one’s own thought processes in developing more effective communication skills, the training involves much personal work and individual attention from facilitators as well as a theoretical understanding and hands-on practice with tools for implementing it.

The summer workshop will again be facilitated by internationally recognized Satir experts Jean McLendon and Hugh Gratz and assistant facilitators Suzanne Brown, Trish Brown, and Reiss Powell. Participants from previous UNC Satir trainings have described the workshops as professionally beneficial and personally rewarding.

The fee for the Satir Summer Intensive is $1,500, but register by March 31, 2018, and receive the “Early Bird Special” price of $1,200. A limited number of scholarships are available for students, recent graduates, and individuals with financial need and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit the UNC Satir website for details and a downloadable application form.

Space is limited to 30 participants, so register soon to reserve your space. Click here to register today.
