More than 100 MSW candidates attend annual Welcome Weekend event

On April 7-8, the School of Social Work opened its doors to 103 MSW candidates and more than 30 of their family members, friends and loved ones for the School’s 9th Annual Welcome Weekend celebration. This event gives newly admitted students to the advance standing, full time, or distance education programs an opportunity to visit campus and to meet faculty, staff and current students.

This year’s event was the largest-attended yet, with candidates visiting from across the country, including California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and North Carolina.

As part of this year’s activities, the MSW candidates had the opportunity to participate in a direct practice seminar with clinical assistant professor Tauchiana Williams; a community, management and community practice seminar with clinical assistant professor Josh Hinson; and an information fair that gave candidates the chance to learn more about the School’s dual degree and certificate programs, the UNC-PrimeCare program, and the School’s Social Work Student Organizations (SoWoSo).
