James Nash, MSW ’90, Ph.D. ’99, age 59, of Portland, Oregon, passed away peacefully at his home on Aug. 4 after a battle with cancer. He was an associate professor at the Portland State University School of Social Work.
“Jim is remembered for his warmth and kindness, quiet strength, and deep commitment to the School of Social Work through his strong leadership both as faculty and an administrator,” the School posted on its website.
Nash’s practice experience included community mental health; and clinical case management with children, adolescents, and their families. His research interests included etiology, prevention, and treatment of aggressive behavior and delinquency in children and adolescents; promotion of optimal development in children and adolescents; quantitative research methodology; and prevention of juvenile offending in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He taught in the areas of child and adolescent development, prevention, research methodology, and statistics.
