In memoriam: Burgin ’75, Logan ’68, Young ’80

Linda Schell Burgin, MSW ’75, of Asheville, died on April 28, 2015, at age 65. She worked as a school social worker at South French Broad Middle School and later as a therapist at the Blue Ridge Mental Health Center in Asheville. She went into private practice as a partner at Asheville Marriage, Family and Psychotherapy Associates in 1989. Obituary

Anne Gerth Logan, MSW ’68, age 72, died at home on May 18 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, under hospice care. She had been diagnosed with cancer 18 months earlier. While working as a medical social worker at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center and then Spectrum Health, she also was an active volunteer with the neighborhood association, among the first docents at the Meyer May House, represented the League of Women Voters as a board member of Kent Community Action Program and the Kent Community Coordinated Child Care (4C), and served on the Child Death Review Committee as a social work representative. Karen Cornell Young, MSW ’80, of Salisbury, passed away on June 3 unexpectedly in Vermont where she has spent her summers for over 20 years. Young was very active in the community. She was Salisbury’s first city councilwoman and later worked with disadvantaged young women facing teenage motherhood. She worked later as a guidance counselor at Knox Middle and East Rowan High School. Obituary
