Former UNC faculty member Dr. Elizabeth Watkins died on March 19 at Westminster Retirement Community in Woodbridge, Va.
“She was a true friend of the School of Social Work,” said Professor Kathleen Rounds, who worked with Watkins in UNC’s MSW/MPH Dual Degree Program. “She was very instrumental in establishing the program while she was a professor in the Department of Maternal and Child Health. I remember her so fondly as an advocate for public health social work. Many of our alumni who graduated from the Dual Degree Program and social workers in North Carolina who have been involved in public health will also remember her many contributions to the field.”
