Alumni briefs: Greeson ’09, Rosemond ’04; Smith ’01, ’07

Johanna Greeson, Ph.D. ’09, an assistant professor in the School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania, has an article published in the Jan. 8 Chronicle of Social Change, “Leveraging The Power of Caring Adults in the Lives of Foster Youth: How Relationships Can Change Lives.”

Paige Black Rosemond, MSW ’04, was promoted on Jan. 7 to associate director of child welfare for the State of Colorado.  After practicing child welfare in North Carolina for 14 years, she relocated to Colorado in 2011 and continued her work in child welfare both at the county and state levels. Colorado utilizes a state-supervised, county-administered system in the provision of child welfare.  In this new position, Rosemond will oversee child protection, permanency, youth, licensing and monitoring, and prevention services.

Sophia Smith, Ph.D. ’07, MSW ’01, was named the director of the Duke Cancer Survivorship Center. Smith was formerly a research scientist at the Duke Clinical Research Institute and is currently an associate professor with the Duke University School of Nursing. Moving forward, Smith will continue to serve in her faculty role with the School of Nursing in addition to her new role.
