Deborah Barrett, Ph.D., will present, “A Dialectical Approach to Chronic Physical and Emotional Pain,” on Thursday, Nov. 13, from noon-2 p.m., as part of the JFS Clinical Connections series for mental health professionals hosted by Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Federation. It will be held at the Levin Jewish Community Center, 1937 West Cornwallis Road, in Durham.
Iris Carlton-LaNey, Ph.D., is co-editing a special issue of the journal Social Work, published by NASW Press, entitled, “Women’s Issues in Social Work Revisited.”The overarching goal of this special issue is to describe the gains that have been made and provide recommendations for improvement in the profession and in practice. Matthew Howard, Ph.D., Frank A. Daniels Distinguished Professor for Human Services Policy Information, was selected to give the Aaron Rosen lecture at the next Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) meeting in New Orleans this January. “This is an amazing honor bestowed by SSWR and our social work academic colleagues,” said Dean Jack Richman. “It denotes great respect and esteem for Matthew’s work, and admiration for his positive impact on our profession.”
Margaret Morse, Ph.D. retired in August after 25 years of service. She was a clinical assistant professor and a publications manager with the School’s Center for Aging Research and Educational Services (CARES).
