Chapman wins award for China research

Associate Professor Mimi Chapman was selected as the winner of the 2014-15 China Urbanization Research Proposal Competition by the UNC Center for Urban and Regional Studies for her proposal, “The Well-Being of Migrant Youth in China: The Potential for an Assets Building Approach to Increasing Adolescent Well-Being.”

This competitive program provides $20,000 to enable a faculty member to develop a large research proposal focusing on an issue relevant to urbanization in China. Chapman plans to use the funds to support a doctoral student and travel expenses for the study.

Assistant Professor Gina Chowa will be a consultant on this project.

Chapman has been working on research related to China for several years, and was most recently there in May to meet with some of our international research partner institutions, and to present at a seminar.
