Panel discussion on LGBTQ identities in the workplace, Oct. 28

The LGBTQ Caucus, a student group at the UNC School of Social Work, in partnership with the School’s Field Education Office, is hosting, “Managing and Supporting LGBTQ Identities in the Workplace: A Panel Discussion.” It will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, from noon-2 p.m. in the Tate-Turner-Kuralt building auditorium. This event is free and open to all.

“Whether you are LGBTQ or an ally; whether your profession is social work, medicine, public health, law, dental, education, nursing or psychology; whether you are a citizen, professional, student, staff or professor; whether you work with individuals, families, groups, communities or government, this panel discussion is relevant to your practice,” said MSW student Mark Smith, one of the event organizers.

The public is invited to come learn from LGBTQ practitioners about the unique challenges they face, and how to be supportive and affirming in your own agencies. A diverse group of panelists will share their experiences and discuss the intersection of their layered identities, and then answer questions from the audience.
