“Be Bold” festival April 14 to raise awareness of bullying

The North Carolina Center for Excellence in Youth Violence Prevention (NC-ACE), headed by UNC School of Social Work Professor Paul Smokowski, is co-sponsoring a Durham festival promoting peaceful schools. It’s called “Be Bold” to emphasize the importance of being bold rather than a bystander when it comes to responding to bullying behaviors.

The festival will include a battle of the bands for those 18 years of age or under. A number of other festival activities and freebies from supportive sponsors are planned as well.

It will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013, from 1‐5 p.m., at Central Park in Durham. Admission is free and open to the public.
