School adds a clinical lecture series in Winston-Salem

Beginning this fall, the School of Social Work is offering a Clinical Lecture Series in Winston-Salem.  This is in addition to the Clinical Lecture Series in Chapel Hill.

The new lecture series is co-sponsored by UNC School of Social Work and the Northwest Area Health Education Center of Wake Forest School of Medicine, and a part of the NC-AHEC program.

All events take place at the Northwest Area Health Education Center, from 10:00 a.m.-noon.  Two CEUs are available for each lecture. All lectures are $25.00; free of charge to current students, faculty and field instructors.

The Fall 2012-Spring 2013 lectures are:

  • Oct. 10, 2012: “The Latest Research on Intimate Partner Violence: Implications for Clinical and Professional Social Work Practice,” presented by Rebecca Macy, Ph.D., LCSW.
  • Nov. 28, 2012: “New Frontiers in the Addictions: Recent Developments in the Treatment of Behavioral Addictions,” presented by Matthew Howard, Ph.D.
  • Feb. 06, 2013: “Ethical Action: The Lessons of Penn State and Second Mile,” presented by Kim Strom-Gottfried, Ph.D.
  • April 17, 2013: “Effective Chronic Pain Management: Helping Clients Make Sense and Improve their Experience,” presented by Deborah Barrett, Ph.D., LCSW.
