Register for the 2012-13 clinical lecture series

The School of Social Work is pleased to offer its eighth year of the Clinical Lecture Series, where area practitioners, students, and faculty learn together from esteemed and innovative clinicians. The CLS offers monthly lectures to enhance the clinical curriculum for students and offer continuing education for graduates and practitioners. It also aims to foster and strengthen relationships among clinically-oriented students and the wider clinical community.

Two contact hours may be awarded for each lecture.

The lectures for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 are:

  • Monday, September 17 – How Mindfulness and Compassion Can Free You From Anxiety, Fear and Panic, presented by Jeffry Brantley, M.D.
  • Monday, October 1 –  Cyberbullying: What We Know and What Can We Do About It, presented by Susan Limber, Ph.D., Professor, Institute on Family and Neighborhood Life, Clemson University. (NC-ACE workshop. Free and open to public.)
  • Monday, October 15 – The Use of Religious CBT in People With Chronic Health Problems, presented by Harold Koenig, M.D.
  • Monday, November 5 – Self-harm Behaviors Among Adults and Adolescents, presented by Jill Compton, Ph.D.
  • Monday, January 14 – The Ethical Context of Psychopharmacology: Empowering Therapists and Clients, presented by Belinda Novik, MSCP, M.D., Ph.D.
  • Monday, February 11 – The Multidimensional Family Tree: Best Practices for Working with Members of Step-families, presented by Anne Jones, MSW, Ph.D.
  • Monday, March 25 – Evidence-based Clinical Hypnosis for Clients and Ourselves, presented by Bob Dick, Ph.D.
  • Monday, April 15 – Working Effectively with Hyper-arousal in Individuals with PTSD, presented by Eric Elgoben, Ph.D.

The lectures take place from noon to 2 p.m. in the School’s auditorium.
