Free continuing ed lecture Feb. 20 on youth violence prevention

The North Carolina Academic Center for Excellence (NC-ACE) for the Prevention of Youth Violence is co-sponsoring a talk at the School of Social Work’s Tate-Turner-Kuralt Auditorium on Monday, February 20, 2012, from noon-2 p.m. There will be a catered reception preceding the event.

The speaker will be esteemed scholar Dr. Al Farrell, professor of psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University and director of their Institute for Positive Youth Development. His talk, “What will it take to improve the effectiveness and relevance of violence prevention programs for adolescents?” will address focus on the contextual factors that have limited the effectiveness of programs to reduce aggression among middle schoolers and address directions for improvement.

This lecture is FREE and open to all. Two contact hours are available for participation.
