The theme of this year’s conference is “The Promise of Health Equity: Advancing the Discussion to Eliminate Disparities in the 21st Century.” It will be held on Fri., Feb. 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education.
Second-year MSW student April Smith Parker is the chair of the exhibitor sub-committee. When asked why she wanted to be involved in this conference, she said, “It is a matter of social justice. This conference is the type of multi-disciplinary effort that social workers need to be involved in. In our profession we cannot escape the disparities in health and access that our clients experience. Attending this conference and being a participant in the discussion of eliminating these disparities is a step in the right direction on the road to health equity.”
MSW student ambassador Annie Francis will staff the School of Social Work’s recruitment booth at the conference. Prospective students are encouraged to stop by.
