UNC is hosting the sixth annual “Conference on Eating Disorders: The Mind-Body Solution” on Sat., Nov. 6, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Friday Center.
This conference will provide tools to empower health care providers to ask the critical questions to detect eating and women’s reproductive mood disorders, to effectively manage these disorders when appropriate in their practices, and to appraise when specialty referral is required. It is a joint effort between the UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders and the UNC Eating Disorders Program.
The special guest speaker is Frank Bruni, former New York Times restaurant critic and author of “Born Round: A Story of Family, Food and a Ferocious Appetite.”
School of Social Work professor Dr. Matthew Howard is among the presenters. He is speaking at a break-out session on “Detecting and Treating Co-Occurring Substance Use Disorders and Behavioral Addictions in Women with Eating Disorders.”
