The School of Social Work is pleased to offer its sixth year of the Clinical Lecture Series, where area practitioners, students, and faculty learn together from esteemed and innovative clinicians. The CLS offers monthly lectures to enhance the clinical curriculum for students and offer continuing education for graduates and practitioners. It also aims to foster and strengthen relationships among clinically-oriented students and the wider clinical community. Two contact hours may be awarded for each lecture.
The lectures for fall 2010 and spring 2011 are:
- Sept. 20: Improving psychological flexibility through mindfulness based behavioral therapies
- Oct. 18: When is it okay to want to die? Ethical considerations in treating depression among older adults
- Nov. 15: Assessment and treatment tools for dissociative disorders
- Jan. 24: Evaluating and treating bipolar depression through the life course
- Feb. 21: Partner violence and parenting
- March 21: The ethics of caregiving – Helping clients navigate key decisions in eldercare
- April 18: Couple-based interventions when one partner suffers from chronic distress
