Bledsoe receives investigator award for depression study

Assistant Professor Betsy Bledsoe, Ph.D. received a 2010 NCDEU New Investigator Award. NCDEU is a meeting that focuses on new research approaches for mental health interventions, and is co-sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health and the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology. It was held June 13-17, 2010 in Boca Raton, Fla.

The award entitled her to participate in a closed full-day educational workshop. She also presented a poster, “Treating Perinatal Depression in Low-Income Adolescents: Results from a Pilot Feasibility Study of Culturally Relevant, Brief Interpersonal Psychotherapy.”

Two UNC School of Social Work master’s students (Anne-Marie Olarte, 1st Year; Abby Zeveloff, 2nd Year) and alumna Amy Sommer, MSW ’04,  are coauthors on the poster.
