Chapman receives $50,000 grant for Latino youth project

Mimi Chapman was awarded a $50,000 grant through UNC’s North Carolina Translational & Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS), the academic home of the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award.

Chapman is PI on a project entitled, “Puentes: Bridging Education and Mental Health for New Immigrant Latino Youth.” It is designed to address the needs of a growing immigrant population in North Carolina, Latino youth. The study builds on the training and research experience of the PI and her co-investigators, and has a strong interdisciplinary team that includes community collaborators and co-investigators from several schools of medicine, public health and education.

The project beings July 1 and runs through Sept. 30, 2011.
