Career Day -- April 1, 2019

Information for Undergraduate Schools
(BSW Programs)

On Monday, April 1st, the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will host its annual Career Day/Job Fair. We would like to invite you and your students to share in this day with us and explore the broad spectrum of career options available to social workers. In 2018, our career fair agencies represented areas of social work such as child welfare agencies, hospitals, public health departments, development disabilities programs, VA hospitals, residential and day treatment programs, schools, refugee resettlement programs, and social work staffing companies. We plan to have at least 55 agencies participate in Career Day, several of whom will be recruiting bachelor’s level as well as master’s level students.  Your students will be able to explore professional and educational opportunities in social work by talking with agency representatives and engaging with students, faculty, and alumni of our MSW program.

This year we will be offering two morning workshops designed specifically for undergraduate students. The first workshop will focus on Negotiating Social Work Salaries and Loan Forgiveness Programs. The second workshop will be a brief optional Information Session on the UNC School of Social Work and admissions and financial aid. After students have participated in one or both workshops, they are welcome to explore Career Day.

If you would like to join us on April 1st, please complete the online registration form located at the top of this webpage by Tuesday, March 12th.  To help us best prepare for your visit, please give us an accurate count of the students that will be attending from your program. A light continental breakfast will be served. We will send additional details about parking and transportation and the schedule once we receive your registration confirmation. Please encourage your students to bring multiple copies of their resumes.

If you have questions, comments, or suggestions about plans for the day, please contact Sharon Thomas, Assistant Dean for Recruitment, Admissions and Financial Aid (919-962-4367;

We look forward to seeing you soon!
