UNC Center for Global Initiatives offers the Graduate Certificate in International Development and Social Change. This certificate program is available to all UNC-Chapel Hill graduate students.
To earn this certificate, you must complete four graduate-level courses that focus on topics related to international development and social change. Two of these courses may be selected from these courses offered by our School:
- SOWO 880, Sustainable Development
- SOWO 881, Community Practice and Planning
- SOWO 882, Citizen Participation
- SOWO 884, Leadership in Nonprofit Organizations
The remaining two courses must be external to our School (either from UNC or from an accredited university with which UNC has a formal consortium arrangement).
In addition, you must participate in a bi-weekly noncredit workshop during the spring semester AND complete a thesis, dissertation, or major seminar paper on a topic related to international development and social change.
