The UNC Satir Program hosted an informal information session in the School of Social Work lobby on Oct. 31, offering MSW students free pizza and the chance to learn more about the UNC Satir program, including two courses available for master’s level students.
Doctoral student and adjunct professor Tricia McGovern answered questions and promoted the Satir courses. McGovern has years of experience using the Satir model in private practice and teaches the Satir-focused Professional Use of Self course. She is currently completing her doctoral dissertation on the Satir concept of “congruence” and has played a vital role in integrating the relatively new Satir program into the School.
Students also had the opportunity to learn more about the Satir Summer Intensive Training. The summer program offers 40 hours of continuing education credit, giving students the chance to satisfy two years’ worth of required CEU hours in one week. Look for more information about the Summer Intensive Training session and scholarship opportunities for students to be announced soon.
Visit the UNC Satir program website for the latest information about Satir courses or contact Satir project manager Stephanie Lind at slind@email.unc.edu or (919) 843-3422 with any questions.
