Jack Richman, professor and former dean of the UNC School of Social Work, has accepted a new appointment at the School. Effective Nov. 1, 2016, Richman is serving as associate dean of international programs.
“We have a number of global activities underway — the expectation is that we expand our global reach,” Dean Gary Bowen said. “Jack Richman is exactly the right person to lead this expansion.”
Bowen added that Richman is traveling this month with faculty members Gina Chowa and Rain Masa to South Africa, one of eight countries where School faculty members have introduced programs and research activities in recent years. They are working toward the launch of a new global research center, Global Social Development Innovations.
Richman joined the School’s faculty in 1983 and served as dean for 13 years. He is a graduate of Florida State University and of the State University of New York at Albany.
