Sponsor blue pinwheels for $2 for National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Please see below for an important message below from SoWoSO (the School of Social Work Student Organization) regarding National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

April is just around the corner, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and SoWoSO is planning an event for the UNC School of Social Work.

Beginning Feb. 2, you will have an opportunity to sponsor blue pinwheels, the symbol for child abuse prevention, for $2. The sponsored pinwheels will be used to create a “pinwheel garden” in the tree beds on the mezzanine in front of the School of Social Work. On April 6, you will have an opportunity to help plant the garden, which will remain in place until April 30. Prior to planting the garden we will have a moment of silence to honor victims, survivors, and casualties of child abuse. All proceeds collected for pinwheels will go to Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina.

How to sponsor a pinwheel

To sponsor a pinwheel, please email Danny Ball and Brye Balkum. If you are on campus, they will come and collect your donation. Alumni and those off campus who would like to sponsor pinwheels can mail their contribution to:

UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work
c/o Dr. Lisa de Saxe Zerden, SoWoSO Advisor
325 Pittsboro St., CB#3550
Chapel Hill, NC 27599-3550

If you would like to have your name and/or a short message on a tag on the pinwheel(s), please indicate that on a piece of paper with your contribution.

Please consider sponsoring a pinwheel for a victim you may know, or in honor of an amazing social worker who works daily to help prevent child abuse.
