Students surprise Zerden with gift

Students in Clinical Assistant Professor Lisa de Saxe Zerden‘s Human Development class surprised her with a special gift on the last day of class, April 17 — a framed class photo, signed by all.

“Our entire class was with Lisa both fall and spring semesters,” explains Melea Rose Waters, who helped organize the effort.”It was all the same people so we really got to know each other well, and from what we’ve been told, this is a unique experience for students to spend the entire year together. It was such a great experience. Lisa is such an amazing lady and we were so honored to have her for an entire year!”

With the photo, they also gave Zerden a certificate with a donation in her name to the N.C. Harm Reduction Coalition.

“The framed photograph with their notes is something I will treasure forever,” says Zerden. “I’ve never been surprised with anything like this before from an entire class. I could not believe in the midst of their final assignments they had thought ahead to organize something so special.”
