The Behavioral Healthcare Resource Program (BHRP) at the UNC School of Social Work has launched a free, web-based training entitled “Supervising N.C. Certified Peer Support Specialists.”
Peer Support Specialists are people living in recovery with mental illness and/or substance abuse and who provide support to others who can benefit from their lived experiences.
This three-hour course is designed to assist managers and supervisors wishing to enhance their skills supervising the specialists. Those interested in creating or improving their organizational culture, understanding the role of the North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist, and the role of the supervisor working with peers are also encouraged to sign up.
The program was developed in collaboration with Peer Support Specialists, BHRP, the N.C. Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services and is presented through the Behavioral Healthcare Resource Program’s Springboard virtual learning community website.
