Sporting silver garland, bells on their sneakers, and plenty of holiday cheer, a team of staff and faculty from the School of Social Work participated in UNC’s Jingle Bell Jog on Friday, Dec. 9.
The annual event–a 3-mile fun run or 1.5 mile walk–promotes health and fitness, and raises canned food donations for the Glenwood Elementary Family Assistance Program and the Orange County Animal Shelter. It is organized by UNC Campus Recreation.
Local businesses and campus organizations donated door prizes, and awards were given to the largest team and to the team with most creative holiday costumes. The “School of Social Work Strollers” won the award for the departmental team with the most participants.
“I think everyone had a great time,” said walker Monica De Pietro, an accounting technician in the School’s business office. “It was so much fun, and nice to see so many people donating to help the two local charities.”
