German students spend semester at UNC

This semester our School welcomed German exchange students Andrea Sadlo, Christina Kustermann, Michaela Schaefert and Kathrin Maierhofer. They are psychology grad students from Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich. They have been working with Dr. Irene Zipper and our Family Support Program since Aug. 8, and also auditing classes.

The students are sponsored by a project called GEDS — Concentration in Global Education and Developmental Studies, which focuses on disability studies broadly defined. It is funded by the Fund for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education (FIPSE) in the U.S. and by the European Union.
Next semester two of our doctoral students will participate in the program. Kate Wegmann will be going to Ludwig-Maximilians, and Sarah Dababnah will go to the University of Porto in Portugal.

Sadly we must say “auf wiedersehen,” as the German students return home Dec. 9.
