Smokowski wins research award, becomes fellow

In April, Dr. Paul Smokowski and a colleague from UNC-Greensboro, Martica Bacallao, Ph.D. ’05, received the Collaborator’s Award from the American Society of Group Psychotherapy, Psychodrama and Sociometry for their research designing and testing the “Entre Dos Mundos/Between Two Worlds” program for immigrant families.

Smokowski also recently presented a workshop entitled “Acculturation and Mental Health: Findings from the Latino Acculturation and Health Project” at the ninth annual conference of the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center in Phoenix, Ariz.

In addition, Smokowski was invited to be a research fellow for UNC’s Health Promotion Disease Prevention Research Center.
