What is the N.C. Child Welfare Workforce Collaborative?

The N.C. Child Welfare Workforce Collaborative is a comprehensive workforce development project funded by the Children’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. By strengthening the capacity of the child welfare workforce, the project supports the child welfare service system goal of ensuring safety, permanence, and well-being for North Carolina’s children.

The N.C. Child Welfare Workforce Collaborative will:

management, staff selection and staff recruitment and retention
• Increase retention of mid-career staff in departments of social services
• Support state and county level workforce development initiatives
• Facilitate child welfare workforce planning
• Pilot a workforce planning process
• Evaluate project and disseminate information about lessons learned
