SOAR Benefits Specialist

 

Housing for New Hope is seeking a candidate for the position of SOAR Benefits Specialist for its PATH Homeless Outreach Team. SOAR (SSDI/SSI, Outreach, Advocacy and Recovery) is a program that helps chronically homeless and disabled individuals apply for social security benefits.

 

Specific responsibilities of the SOAR Benefits Specialist include but are not limited to the following:

· work with the PATH Team to identify appropriate SOAR candidates through team meetings, outreaches, and referrals;

· initiate SOAR paperwork with consumers as referred by PATH program by faxing in initial form to SSA office;

· complete interviews with consumers to gather information to complete SSI/SSDI applications;
