The School of Social Work collaborates with and assists regional AHECs in providing continuing education and training activities for social work, mental health, health and other human service personnel; technical assistance and opportunities for student field placements. Continuing education events include short-term workshops and seminars on topics requested by the AHECs. Training activities include ongoing offerings from the School's Jordan Institute for Families in the areas of adult services, aging and services to families, children, and mental health. Student field placements for graduate social work students are available in rural areas and community mental health settings. AHEC funds to the School of Social Work support the overall coordination of these activities and faculty and consultants' honoraria/travel for requested programs. For more information about AHEC activities with the School of Social Work contact: Information about the North Carolina AHEC program and the regional centers can be found at http://www.med.unc.edu/ahec. |
