Diversity

The Diversity Discussion Board is a place for members of the School of Social Work Community to engage in dialogue about diversity. Diversity includes, but is not limited to, race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, political belief, mental or physical ability, and socioeconomic status. We see these discussions as opportunities for students, faculty, staff and alumni to express their thoughts and opinions in a manner that is consistent with our Social Work Code of Ethics. Specifically, this means that anyone who participates would identify themselves, would take responsibility for their own comments, and would treat others with dignity by not attacking them personally. You may introduce new topics of discussion at any time. If you do not feel comfortable using this public forum for discussion, we hope you will bring your issues to the Diversity Caucus monthly meetings at the School of Social Work. The Diversity Caucus will also bring lively discussions from their meetings to this Discussion Board. The opinions posted on this Discussion Board do not necessarily reflect those of the Diversity Caucus, the School of Social Work, or its affiliates. The Discussion Board will be monitored and any off topic or inappropriate postings will be deleted. Thank you for your interest and participation.

Policies and Advocacy

This Discussion Board is established for the School of Social Work community to allow the discussion of policy issues at the local, state, and national level that could affect our professional practice and/or our clients' protection and access to resources and opportunities. We hope this will be an opportunity to explore in greater depth current events, policy proposals, and legislative agendas. This is a non partisan discussion board; therefore please focus on the issues and NOT on a particular political party. The opinions posted on this Discussion Board do not necessarily reflect those of the Social Justice Caucus, the School of Social Work, or its affiliates.
