Policies for Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program
Policies
Academic Standards
- A student who earns a grade of L (low pass) or F (fail) in any three credit hour Certificate course will become ineligible.
- If a student is still eligible for enrollment in her or his program of admission (Kenan-Flagler Business School, Part-time Classroom Studies, School of Social Work, etc.), the student may apply for reinstatement to the Nonprofit Certificate Program by meeting with the Program Director or his or her academic advisor and completing a written plan that describes a plan and commitment to improving academic performance. Students will be re-admitted upon approval of their written plan and must re-take and pass with a grade of P or H any course(s) for which she or he earned a grade of L or F. Participating academic advisors will notify the Program Director of a re-admission endorsement following the student meeting and approval of the student’s plan.
Credit Transfers
- Per UNC Graduate School policy, no greater than 40% of academic credit (2 out of 5 required courses) toward the graduate degree may be granted via credit transfers.
- Credit transfers will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director who will consult participating faculty and advisory board members concerning the degree of alignment between Certificate courses and intended transfer credits.
Certificate Completion
- While UNC SSW will make every effort to monitor and support students’ progress in completing Certificate requirements, it is ultimately the responsibility of each student to notify UNC SSW when they have completed requirements.
- Upon verification of successful completion of Certificate requirements, UNC SSW will send a Certificate indicating completion of the program to students who have fulfilled program requirements and will notify the University Registrar to request that Certificate completion be noted on official transcripts.
