IPMH Social Worker – Position Description


The Integrated Pediatric Mental Health (IPMH) team in Duke’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a LCSW or LCSW-A to support several ongoing initiatives. A key focus of this position will be working collaboratively across several departments and clinical services (e.g., Duke Pediatric Emergency Department), local law enforcement, and other relevant systems.


Work Performed
Interview patients, their families and other concerned parties to obtain information about personal, social and environmental history.

Participate in periodic staff conferences to present case histories; confer with other members of IPMH team and law enforcement to develop comprehensive evaluations and/or plan pertinent treatment programs to provide maximum benefits for each patient.

Maintain liaison with law enforcement and other community agencies; participate in area activities related to health and welfare services.

Accept on-call responsibilities for after-hours coverage if required. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications
Education/Training:
Work requires a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work. Candidates with comparable training and experience (e.g., Master’s in Psychology) may also be considered.
